Meeting transcriber for Linux, macOS and Windows
Meeting transcripts, word for word.
Puplify listens to your microphone and to the call's audio, writes down what is said as it's said, and saves it as plain text. No bot joins the meeting. No summary rewrites it.
Free and open source.
- [00:00:03]Me:Morning. Shall we start with the budget?
- [00:00:07]Them:Yes. We're about ten percent over on contractors.
- [00:00:13]Me:Is that the Q3 invoices, or is something new?
- [00:00:18]Them:Mostly Q3. Two invoices landed late, so they hit this month.
- [00:00:24]Me:Right.
- [00:00:28]Me:Can we move the vendor review to Thursday?
- [00:00:33]Them:Thursday works. I'll send the revised numbers tonight.
- [00:00:39]Me:Good. I'll freeze the remaining contractor hours until then.
- [00:00:45]Them:That should pull us back on plan by March.
Who said what
Two sources, two tracks.
Puplify never guesses who is talking. It listens in two places and labels each line by where the sound came from.
- Microphone
- Me. Everything you say, as you say it. Wear headphones, or your mic also hears the other side and their words show up twice.
- System audio
- Them. Whatever the call plays: Zoom, Meet, Teams, a browser tab. Overlapping speech stays on its own track, so cross-talk doesn't get tangled.
- Labels
- Rename Me and Them in Settings. Saved transcripts use your names.
- Output
- Timestamp, speaker, words. Saved as
.txt,.mdor.json. No summary, no action items, nothing rewritten. - Bots
- None. Nothing joins the call. Puplify is an app on your computer listening to your computer.
- Calendar
- Connect Google or Outlook and Puplify starts recording when you join a meeting from your calendar, then stops when you leave the call. Or have it ask first.
Transcription engine
Keep it on your machine, or stream it.
Choose one in Settings. Switch whenever you like.
| Local | Cloud | |
|---|---|---|
| Engine | whisper.cpp, with Silero VAD so silence never turns into invented text. | Deepgram Nova-3. |
| Audio leaves your computer | Never. Works offline. | Yes, streamed to Deepgram. |
| Speed | Text appears a few seconds after each pause. | Live partial results while people are still talking. |
| Speaker labels | Me and Them, by audio source. | Mic and system audio travel as two channels, so labels stay exact. |
When the meeting ends
Sent where you already keep things.
Stop recording and the transcript goes to every destination you've switched on. It's autosaved while you record, and any stored transcript can be re-sent later.

Before you start
macOS. Apple Silicon only (Intel Macs: build from source). The quickest install is one Terminal command: it downloads the latest release and puts Puplify in Applications, ready to open.
curl -fsSL https://puplify.com/install.sh | shDownloaded the .dmg instead? The build isn't notarized yet, so macOS blocks the first launch. Run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Puplify.app once, or choose Open Anyway in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
The first recording asks for Microphone and Screen & System Audio Recording access. Allow both, then restart Puplify.
Linux. Needs PipeWire (with pipewire-pulse) or PulseAudio.
